Medical Coders are primarily responsible for abstracting and assigning the appropriate code according to documentation to put on a claim. The coder will assign the correct ICD-10CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes that was diagnosed or performed for reimbursement.

No. We only teach medical coding which requires a certification and it is a career course with an awesome salary range. Medical billing is an on the job training position with a minimum salary range.

No. We are licensed by the state of Louisiana. Accreditation is basicly for the purpose of transferring of college credits and the offering of financial aid by the government.

Yes. You will need to sit for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) exams to get nationally certified or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-AHIMA credential). American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) is the credentialing agency that you will have to obtain a membership of $90.00 (student) and exam $300.00 (student/free retake). American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) is the other credentialing agency that you will have to obtain a membership various options and exam Members $299.00 (each time)
You can look on any job search engine and search for “medical coding” or “remote coder”. You will be able to code any inpatient/outpatient services in a facility, clinic, insurance company, or work from home.

No. Once you register for a particular session then you will finish in that session. There’s no crossing of any sessions.
